Marriage is a sacred covenant you make with the most High that you will honour and cherish your spouse until the end of time. Love is three words…. affection, attachment and devotion. Love is to love someone for who they are, who they were and who they will be. Love overcomes all obstacles and struggles in life.
As young women of God, we all plan to marry one day, but not just to anyone but a genuine God fearing man, blessed and joined together by God. It is important to pray for God to guide you and help you in the area of preparation for marriage, to meet your very own Boaz. A genuine man of God shall be your portion, a man who will lead you closer to God and not sin, a man who will love you and treat you well with God at the centre of your relationship. Believe in God to give you the best, don’t go and chose only to get disappointed. For our ways are not His ways.
Ruth showed a person’s ethnicity is not what is important to God. Instead it is their heartfelt attitude towards their relationship and the spiritual connection with the creator, that is what counts and what matters the most.
SIGNIFICANT POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND:
RUTH CHAPTER 2:
RUTH MEETS BOAZ:– A BEAUTIFUL LOVESTORY, WHERE RUTH A YOUNG WIDOW MEETS ONE OF NAOMI’S RELATIVE A RICHMAN CALLED BOAZ..
BOAZ ASKS ABOUT RUTH
BOAZ MEETS RUTH IN THE GRAIN FIELD.
RUTH RECEIVES KINDNESS FROM BOAZ.
Here Boaz immediately noticed Ruth and asked the reapers who she was, when you see something special in someone you begin to enquire more about them. As it is shown here she had not been around long enough and already Boaz had seen something in her like no other. Once Boaz went and met Naomi and Ruth, the first thing Ruth offered to do as an act of kindness was: She said, ‘I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves; so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until late, that she tarried a little in the house.’ (Ruth 2:7).. Now we have to keep in mind that Ruth didn’t know who Boaz was and had not been in that land long enough to settle in and get to know everyone. Once she arrived went straight into offering an act of kindness to Boaz, such a beautiful, down to earth, humble, gracious woman who without even meeting anyone got stuck into the work, that truly is an act that will be rewarded by God. God grants us favour and unmerited blessings when we continue to do good, all that Ruth did never went unseen God saw it all and in His set time blessed her beyond her wildest imagination and gave Naomi a chance to smile and be happy again. God is too good, shout FAVOR, your own is coming in Jesus name. Stays encouraged and keep doing good.(Galatians 6:6-10 Sowing and reaping).
So Boaz said to Ruth, “My daughter, listen to me. Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here. Stay here with the women who work for me. Watch the field where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the women. I have told the men not to lay a hand on you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled.” Boaz after seeing the work Ruth was doing in the fields urged her to stop the work as it was not her job to do so, but rather made her comfortable and welcome, catered to her needs. That was the beginning of favour upon Ruth’s life and the beginning of something great, that Boaz was to cherish for many years to come. These lovely acts of kindness really touched me, two strangers who knew nothing about one another met in the fields and acts of favour and kindness were expressed. Nothing happened at those moments in time but God saw it all and blessed them at a later time. Goes to show that you reap what you sow, and whether a week or a month or years after that act, you may have forgotten what you did, but God never forgets, blessings are on its way.
She bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?” Humility opens doors for you, she probably didn’t think that her act of kindness was a big deal, or that it would grant her such favour from Boaz, and her reaction alone showed that. When God is working in situations and through people you’ll never be able to explain it. Remember God’s ways are not our ways. Ladies it’s good to be good, but not simply to be good to receive, because when you give freely with a pure, good, genuine heart God sees that and blesses you in abundance. He loves a good giver.
Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.” AMEN AND AMEN TO THIS, the good you do, no matter how small, is enough to effect live(s). God moving in you will be seen by many, your actions alone may be enough to encourage someone or many out there who need the help and encouragement. Your name shall be used for greatness and God will take you all over, people will hear about you and your steps shall never take you into crisis but greatness. Amen. When others speak good of you and your actions thank God for how He is using you and pray for more strength, courage and wisdom.
“May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord,” she said. “You have put me at ease by speaking kindly to your servant—though I do not have the standing of one of your servants.” God spoke to Ruth through Boaz, how lovely. God cannot be with us physically but He can send special people our way who He will use to speak to us and encourage us. Just like we see here with Boaz talking to Ruth, Ruth prayed to find more favour in God’s eyes and that act of laying it all down before God and her acts of kindness gave her victory, boldness and a bright future, God pre destined to happen.
RUTH CHAPTER 3:
BOAZ PROPOSES MARRIAGE TO RUTH
UNDER NAOMI’S INSTRUCTIONS, CLAIMS FROM BOAZ THE DUTY OF A KINSMAN.
One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for. Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor. Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do.” Strict instructions given, from Naomi to Ruth, whom Ruth followed and her response showed how respectful and obedient she was. “I will do whatever you say,” Ruth answered. So she went down to the threshing floor and did everything her mother-in-law told her to do.
When Boaz had finished eating and drinking and was in good spirits, he went over to lie down at the far end of the grain pile. Ruth approached quietly, uncovered his feet and lay down. In the middle of the night something startled the man; he turned—and there was a woman lying at his feet! “Who are you?” he asked. “I am your servant Ruth,” she said. “Spread the corner of your garment over me, since you are a guardian-redeemerof our family.” Submit yourself to your husband, your body is not yours but His, all these verses were coming into mind along with how a woman should be the ideal Proverbs 31 woman. Yes she wasn’t married to Boaz at this time, but she was acting in a submissive way towards him acting on instruction, calm, loving, respectful, gracious and obedient.
“The Lord bless you, my daughter,” he replied. “This kindness is greater than that which you showed earlier: You have not run after the younger men, whether rich or poor. And now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character. Although it is true that I am a guardian-redeemer of our family, there is another who is more closely related than I. Stay here for the night, and in the morning if he wants to do his duty as your guardian-redeemer, good; let him redeem you. But if he is not willing, as surely as the Lord lives I will do it. Lie here until morning.” These particular verses were too powerful, I was moved and just speechless at how God could bring together two strangers, different backgrounds and experiences to be joined as one. Honestly speaking God is just too much; He simply is a master planner and really takes care of His own. WOW! FAVOUR FAVOUR FAVOUR
So she lay at his feet until morning, but got up before anyone could be recognized; and he said, “No one must know that a woman came to the threshing floor.”He also said, “Bring me the shawl you are wearing and hold it out.” When she did so, he poured into it six measures of barley and placed the bundle on her. Then he went back to town. Boaz was a God fearing, lovely, humble, generous man. Truly a man of God, Ruth was indeed blessed to have crossed paths with Boaz. Not just any man in the land but a God fearing well respected man who treated her right in that short space of time, her and Naomi. Ladies pray for your own Boaz to locate you, not just any man because he looks good or has money, NO. Material things are only temporary they come and go but your husband will be the one you spend your life with, learn from, support and encourage the perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman. I pray we all act in accordance with the Proverbs 31 woman and also meet our own Boaz.
When Ruth came to her mother-in-law, Naomi asked, “How did it go, my daughter?” Then she told her everything Boaz had done for her and added, “He gave me these six measures of barley, saying, and ‘Don’t go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.’ Then Naomi said, “Wait, my daughter, until you find out what happens. For the man will not rest until the matter is settled today.”FAVOR AND GOD’S PLAN MOVING IN A SET WAY ONLY GOD PLANNED.
RUTH CHAPTER 4
RUTH MARRIES BOAZ
BECOMES AN ANCESTOR OF JESUS
BOAZ REDEEMED RUTH MUCH LIKE CHRIST REDEEMED US.
MATTHEW 1:5 – LINEAGE OF THE MESSIAH
RUTH BECMES A GREAT GRANDMOETHER OF KING DAVID, MEANING SHE WAS AN ANCESTOR TO THE MESSIAH, CHRIST. (RUTH 4.9-13, 21,22).
This chapter shows more than anything the care and humility instilled in Boaz and how he went the extra mile to help Naomi sell her land. Because of mixed emotions of doubt and worry buyers were proving difficult as they feared purchasing land from a widow would in effectively bring troubles. This didn’t stop Boaz though; he preserved and ended up purchasing the land from Naomi herself.
Meanwhile Boaz went up to the town gate and sat down there just as the guardian-redeemerhe had mentioned came along. Boaz said, “Come over here, my friend, and sit down.” So he went over and sat down. Boaz took ten of the elders of the town and said, “Sit here,” and they did so. Then he said to the guardian-redeemer, “Naomi, who has come back from Moab, is selling the piece of land that belonged to our relative Elimelek. I thought I should bring the matter to your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if youwill not, tell me, so I will know. For no one has the right to do it except you, and I am next in line.”
“I will redeem it,” he said. Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the land from Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the Moabite, thedead man’s widow, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property.”
At this, the guardian-redeemer said, “Then I cannot redeem it because I might endanger my own estate. You redeem it yourself. I cannot do it.” Lack of faith and belief. They don’t see what God is doing in the life of Ruth and Boaz and are probably filled with doubt.
(Now in earlier times in Israel, for the redemption and transfer of property to become final, one party took off his sandal and gave it to the other. This was the method of legalizing transactions in Israel.)…So the guardian-redeemer said to Boaz, “Buy it yourself.” And he removed his sandal.
Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people, “Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from his hometown. Today you are witnesses!” He took on this huge responsibility didn’t fear or allow doubt or worries move him. Just goes to show when God plans things, it’ll all flow smoothly, Boaz may have been the initial buyer from the beginning. But God is funny and soo creative before that happened He may have tried to see who would have wanted to buy it, and therefore didn’t seem shaken at having to maintain the dead name. This situation showed who was really from God and who wasn’t. Then the elders and all the people at the gate said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the family of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem. Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like that of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah.”
NAOMI GAINS A SON
So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. 14 The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth.” God is just too amazing, look at how He planned out this love story from the beginning to the end. Ruth not only marries Boaz, conceives a son, not just an ordinary son but a King, King David.. Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
GOD CAN TAKE A NOBODY AND MAKE THEM A SOMEBODY.. GOD REALLY CARES FOR HIS OWN, IS A MASTER PLANNER AND ALWAYS GIVE US WHAT WE NEED, HE NEVER FAILS..
Thank you for everything you have done for us, thank you for our lives and lessons learnt to make us stronger. I pray that all the people reading this post shall locate their own Boaz who will walk with them in Christ to draw nearer to you. I pray for the spirit of discernment to help us through with the good and bad guys who locate us in Jesus name I pray.
